THE JEWISH HOME'S
KEEPING THE PROMISE CAPITAL CAMPAIGN

Launched by the Jewish Home's Board of Directors in 1999, this unprecedented $72 million Campaign was undertaken to raise funds to build much-needed new facilities, upgrade or replace existing buildings, and establish a facility on the Westside of the city. Vitally important to the Los Angeles community as the Jewish Home continues to serve a burgeoning elderly population, to date more than $55 million has been raised by the Campaign.

The Goldenberg-Ziman Special Care Center

The first project funded by the Campaign, the Paul Goldenberg - Daphna and Richard Ziman Special Care Center, was dedicated in 2002 on the Eisenberg Village campus. This award-winning Center, recognized for its innovative design inspired by cutting edge research, is one of the most advanced residential facilities in the world for those with Alzheimer's disease and other age-related dementias.

The second project of the Campaign, a skilled nursing building on the Grancell Village Campus, has been named "The Joyce Eisenberg-Keefer Medical Center" in keeping with the dual scope of housing and nursing services. The largest expansion in the Home's nearly 100-year history, the Joyce Eisenberg-Keefer Medical Center will shelter in warmth, safety and community 249 frail elderly in need of the highest levels of care the Home provides. In particular, the Joyce Eisenberg-Keefer Medical Center will help us address the urgent need for more skilled nursing beds in our community.

The Center will consist of three interconnected buildings: The Brandman Research Institute and two residential structures: the Pavilion and the LaKretz-Black Tower. The Center's innovative design will afford residents easy access to specialized medical care and programs within a distinctive residential setting. An interdisciplinary team of healthcare professionals will support residents with social, rehabilitative and medical services, including psychiatric and psychological services. When completed, the Joyce Eisenberg-Keefer Medical Center will set a new standard of optimal care and programs serving the elderly.
